Helping you find balance and peace, in your business and your life.
welcome, i’m emily!
I am a writer, engineer, entrepreneur, yoga teacher and coach from a small coastal community in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I co-own a bricks-and-mortar business with employees and equipment and, like yours, my business is unique and complex and has required me to learn how to do things I never expected, and solve problems that seemed insurmountable.
I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs and leaders like you learn how to flourish in uncertainty. I want to help you find joy and freedom in your entrepreneurship journey - and I want to help you find the unconditional confidence to express your unique genius in the world and your life.
If you are feeling trapped or burnt-out and wishing you could just slow down…you can. We can work together to design a new relationship with your business, one with healthy boundaries and a mutual respect. Let me help you rediscover your passion, reconnect with your creativity and find that freedom and integrity that will inspire you once more.
I coach entrepreneurs by providing a safe space, free of agenda or judgement. I will hold this space for you with curiosity and compassion. We’ll work together on your stickiest issues and messiest problems and uncover the right next step for you.
Your business is inspired by you. But it doesn’t own you.
When I first started my business I was eager, earnest, passionate and confident. I knew what I wanted to create and I knew that I could do it. I had grit and determination. Even when things went wrong, I rolled up my sleeves and got my hands dirty and I figured out how to fix it. I saw my business as an opportunity to create something uniquely mine - something that would make a difference in the world and serve my purpose.
Three years later I was burnt out and had completely lost my sense of self. Who I am was all tied up in my business. I managed to tread water for another year. But by year five, my business had started to suffer, and so had I.
Running your business using your own life force as the fuel is unsustainable.
But.
It is possible to find a balance. Work with me to understand how to manage your relationship with your business. Learn to use your unique genius to inspire, grow and sustain your business, and allow your business to nurture you financially, emotionally and spiritually.
And, let me teach you how to rest. For real.
Your business has a purpose. And so do you.
I started my business to serve my community. I wanted to create jobs for myself and others in a rural community that I loved. While that is a purpose I still believe in, and while employing people is still the part of my business that brings me the most joy, I have come to realize that it isn’t the only thing I want to do. While my relationship with my business was unhealthy, I began to feel like I WAS my business. And while this meant every great success was exhilarating, this also meant every failure was devastating, and every complaint was a personal criticism.
You created your business for a reason. When you are practicing entrepreneurship it can be a powerful creative force in the world. Your business can be an expression of you, and can serve a purpose in the world that aligns with your own purpose and makes your heart sing.
But.
Your business doesn’t have to be the only thing that makes your heart sing.
Work with me to understand how to create a business that is an expression of your truth, your integrity, your values and your purpose without losing who YOU are in the process.
You are a valuable person. And time is your most precious resource.
At the lowest point in my entrepreneurship journey, my biggest challenge was that I had married my own self-worth to the success of my business. I had served my business with every ounce of my being and let it take from me without ever giving back. I worked for more than a year without being paid. I worked countless hours on evenings and weekends, neglecting my family and myself. And I know, this is completely normal for entrepreneurs in the startup phase.
But.
Eventually, I learned to accept that my business needed to have an honest relationship with the economy in which it operates. And I needed to be valued by my business.
Stop avoiding the money issues. We all have them. Work with me to dig into issues of value, money and worth so that you can create a sustainable financial relationship with your business that feels like truth.
There is more to entrepreneurship than a great idea and business skills.
Entrepreneurship is a journey that will transform you.
Are you ready to move forward?
Kind Client Feedback
“ Being coached by Emily over the past eight months has been a wonderful, consistent and reliable support navigating many changes in my personal and professional life.
The practices and tools I’ve gained with her intuitive coaching style have allowed me to explore what I’ve needed to address without pressure, but rather intentional support. I have learned about the depths of my own tenacity, resilience, self-compassion and ability to move through changing times through her time, attention and guidance.
I am very grateful to have been led so gracefully in strengthening my inner compass of what matters most for my business and how to shift my lifestyle to support my version of success.
If you’re seeking clarity and accountability to move through the next steps in business and life, I would definitely recommend working with Emily. “

“ In summer 2020, I decided to start my own digital marketing company. I quickly realized that my business was growing faster than I ever expected and I was floating along without a paddle, so to speak.
Finding and accepting Emily’s guidance truly changed the course of my business, my wellbeing, and my overall quality of life. From her ability to create a sense of calm within and realign my focus, to the accountability held between sessions, I was able to get a grasp on the direction I truly wanted for my business.
Within just a few months and a handful of sessions, I’ve become much more confident in my role, more organized and more structured. Emily’s coaching has been a total game-changer! ”

Often as entrepreneurs, we are burning the candle at both ends - maybe all ends. We forget to eat and exercise, we don’t make time to play, and we sacrifice sleep. This is us using our life force to sustain our business. While sometimes that is what is needed, it is definitely not sustainable (trust me, I tried).
Finding other energy sources to fuel your business is the real work of growth. As you do this work, you will also need to find ways to nourish yourself. I have found the tools of yoga to be invaluable in this area. It was when I started a daily yoga practice that I truly started to claim my life back. While I am an advocate for daily practice, I know that might not be realistic for you at this moment. But I do still have some tools that might help.
Breath Practice (Pranayama)
I start every one of my coaching sessions with breath practice, where I will guide you through a breathing exercise for about five minutes. I adapt the breathwork intuitively to your mood and response, with the intention of clearing your mind and helping to relax your body so you can arrive in our space together grounded and centred.

Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a technique based on ancient yogic traditions that relax the body and the mind. It is said to introduce the deepest possible state of relaxation and helps to relieve anxiety and tension from the mind. Unlike other forms of yoga, Yoga Nidra does not involve any movement of the body, it is all taken in completely still, laying down to rest. It improves the quality of sleep and reduces insomnia. It also induces a state of consciousness somewhere between sleep and being awake and allows for deep rest. I cannot think of anything entrepreneurs need more than deep rest.
Yoga Nidra can be done at any time of day but it is best not to do it right before bed. It is a great alternative to an afternoon nap (which I have never found time for) and I also love doing it in the morning. You might fall asleep, and that’s OK. If you can manage to stay awake it is even better.
Ready to give it a try? You’ve got nothing to lose. For me, it brings a deep feeling of peace and calm. Afterwards, my mind is refreshed and more agile and ready to meet whatever my next challenge is with equanimity.
All my clients who sign up for one of my programs will receive a custom Yoga Nidra recording designed for their specific preferences and needs.
